Loch Woods Property Owners Association:
Communities are best served when they are cared for. To that end the Loch Woods Property Owners’ Association (LWPOA) was formed in the early 1990’s with the intent of forging bonds between neighbours and providing a body to develop and coordinate activities within the community. The Association is, as the name implies, made up of the owners of property in the Loch Woods sub-division. Democracy is alive and well in Loch Woods where owners have an equal voice in electing their representatives as well as any issue that will affect the neighbourhood! Membership is a mere $10 per year per household (or property) and the proceeds are used to support neighbourhood events such as the annual yard sale and the Annual General Meeting.
Executive Board
The LWPOA executive is a six-person elected/volunteer board that meets regularly to discuss issues pertinent to the best interests of the neighbourhood, to coordinate community events and to continue to promote a sense of identity within the sub-division.
The main function of the executive is to provide a point of liaison with the council of Rural Municipality (RM) of Gimli as well as other similar associations. The LWPOA executive, speaking for the entire Loch Woods neighbourhood, has been instrumental in ensuring issues affecting infrastructure and lifestyle have been expeditiously addressed. Conversely, notification of RM pending projects, plans and activities are routinely passed through the LWPOA executive for the information of property owners.
